Work??? I have been working since I was 13. My very first source of income I looked around the apartment complex in Saginaw, TX I grew up in and realized that our family was not the only one being raised by single working mothers, we actually had a inside joke that we must have all had the same father, cause there couldn’t have been so many deadbeat dads in the world. So opportunity showed itself. I started handing out home-made flyer for babysitting and before I knew it I had a babysitting business. I have been an important part of so many childrens lives that Most don’t even call me Monica they call me Momo. It actually is a job that I have continued to do off and on since
When I was 14 I got my first uncle Sam tax paying job, at Taco Bell but do to child labor laws I could only work eleven hours a week. I have worked tons of fast-food places, I have been a housekeeper cleaning houses as well in a clinical setting. I have worked in grocery deli, been a Baker, refurbished cellphones, worked as a ticket checker at D/FW airport, of course Walmart, grocery cashier, and owned a personal Card Shopping business. Just about done everything here and there.
Thin line between Family and friends.
To say that my biological family is big is an understatement. My extended family is even more impressive. My mother has eight siblings two sisters and six brothers. Although Her mother and father divorced and both remarried her mother had only four live births with my grandfather her second marriage only produced one child who died in infancy, how ever they still had their hands full with her four and his nine he had with his first wife who died giving birth to their youngest daughter. Making them a family of fifteen. My father’s parents married each other, had ten live births three sons and seven girls. They also had one still born. They stayed married for fifty years until my grandfather passed away a week and half later.
My extended family actually starts with my first husband’s family. He and I do not have a relationship at all. We never speak and he is not welcome in mine or even most of his own family’s lives . We had no children together so we have no ties that bind us. However his brother remains one of my closest friends today, his mother and I still exchange Christmas Cards every year, and his cousins, aunt’s and uncles remain my family even his deceased grandmother holds a place in my heart. They are my family. My mother’s best friend dating back from Elementary all the way to adulthood, Rosa Garcia, who married David Pesena , who’s brother Enis just happened to be my father’s best friend as well. This childhood relationship automatically linked me to the Garcia’s and the Pesena family’s. The close relationship between my younger sister’s father family and ours automatically linked us to the Robinson, Colter, Washington, Bates, Watson and Robuck’s. My best friends, which I have quite a few, Jamie, Athena,Melissa, Rory, Dustin, Roy, Anthoney, Angela and Dawn, Link me to the Byrd/Ballard and Trejo family, the Peebles/Giles family, the Sherrin/Morris family, The Jay family, The Minshew family, of course the Pierce/Hall family, The Silvia family, The Idell/Riddles/Lacey family, and the Panzarino/Lorden/Butler/Rodriguez families. I was also linked to the Reyes, Stalcups, Gonzalez, Byfied,Burba/Beard, Shelton/Fernnel, and Fernnel again two different families,The Fry/Fleming/Sparks/Cloutier/Fuller/,and David Hanna and fur Babies.
My husband Wesley has a pretty big family as well. His father has one sister and four brothers, they are Ray, Crawford, Brewer/Noble family from Mississippi. His mother the only girl, with only two brothers are Lee/Akins family from Jacksonville Florida. Our extended family includes, Morrison, Holden, Ovelle, Reyes, Miller/Stewart/Tidwell, Hartman,Daniels, and Thompson. So many more families and people but the way I see it Family has little to do with DNA and more about who will stand by you when it matters most.
